landscape:

My landscape work necessarily reflects locations where I have found myself in the right place at the right time with good light. I tend to be an opportunist rather than setting out specifically to photograph a particular landscape in a certain way.

In this new age of digital photography and post processing of RAW files it can be hard to know where to begin and where to stop with regard to working on landscape photos. I can really appreciate the creativity and artistic vision that go into images by Australia's top landscape photographers such as Peter Eastway but have a long way to go to master the Photoshop skills of these artists. Apart from some photos shot with a Lensbaby I mostly present my images in a 'true to life' way although I dream of having the time and skills to be more creative with my capture and output and produce some real landscape 'art'.

The first photo you see is a finalist in the 'Wilderness' category of the 2010 ANZANG Nature Photography Competition and will be part of an exhibition at the South Australian Museum in October, the winner will be announced September 30th. Wish me luck!
