adventure:

Living in California in 1993 I discovered a passion for outdoor adventure when I began rock climbing at the age of 26. The excitement of my first alpine climb on the East Buttress of Mount Whitney in the Sierra mountains prompted a change of priorities in my life, from the demands of a full time surgical resident to those of a dedicated rock climber.

Around the same time I decided to take my photography hobby more seriously by changing from print film to the unforgiving medium of transparency film. Inspired by the wonderful images and technical mastery of Galen Rowell and spurred on after having one of my photos published in a US climbing magazine I began photographing in earnest while using my skills as a doctor and climber to find ways to explore new corners of the globe.
